I had the chance to attend a Robert Glasper concert, thanks to Bonnie Cannon Executive Director at Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center and the wonderful people at the Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center.

No photos were taken of the performance because it was such an intimate theater. It was a great event and part of the Hamptons Jazz Summer Series.

8th Grade Formal and these kids came out in their finest.

Last minute phone calls is the reason why I keep a camera and flash set camera always charged. I was driving around taking care of print clients and I get a call to come and shoot some pre dance photos. I was thinking its early for a prom and then was told it was a 8th grade dance.

My 8th Grade Dance was in the middle school cafeteria over 20 years ago. And I did have on a collard shirt and slacks. Probably took a Cab there because my parents worked. But last night they came in Limousines and all types of exotic mom and dad trucks. "Dressed to the nines" in their finest apparel.

I did not stay long because that would have been creepy these kids are about 14 - 15 years old I think.

Went to shoot a party for a good friend and it turns out I learned something too!

It was a women's empowerment brunch that was single dude friendly as long you didn't cause a divorce or kept a good women down. Great eats, good drinks and photos by me (Smiley Guirand) (SmileyNy if your nasty). Along with learning there is always a tomorrow no matter how bad the situation. I also learned that a majority of the people met on www.blacklongisland.net .

I redesign a website and that was my first mistake!

Everyone Has a Plan Until They Get Punched in the Mouth "Mike Tyson"

When I purchased the Rane Four for the night club I knew it was not for everyone. I soon realized that you need to be up to date in order to use the equipment (Visit the previous post for enlightenment).

Tonight's DJ showed up and he was excited to see the new controller. Then he reached into his bag and retrieved a 2012 Mac Book. It was chunky, light grey and had a cd player. I immediately said "that's not gonna work". We still tried to upload Serato on it, and the software said "that's not gonna work".

Thank goodness I saw this coming in a vision as strong as the one's my Haitian mother has every time I tell her I am leaving the house and not going to Work, School or Church. I went to my car and took out the trusty and musty DDJ-SZ. This mixer has served me well for 3 years then was killed at the club over the last 3. It has more money in parts in it then a kids race car. But it works with old PC's running old Serato Pro. Takes seconds to hook up but needs more signal then the Rane Four. No problem the party must continue.

The Moral of the story is don't get ready stay ready! And know at any given time.... Everyone Has a Plan Until They Get Punched in the Mouth !

Vol #1 of being your favorite sound guy!

I guest star at Cavali NYC from time to time and I play my part. Most of the time I am a general mediator of all confusion and issues. But my main gig is sound, lights and systems.

Last night was the night we replaced the old / broken Controller with the brand new Rane Four Controller. Not complaining about the unit but I am complaining about the process.

You need to have a up to date computer with the most recent operating system.
You need to update Serato to the most recent version.
Then you can download the Rane Four Drivers

So I get a month of showing up nightly to ensure every thing is moving smoothly and all the DJ's can load into the system.
